Contract Geological Mapping
As of the end of the first quarter, 2001 Minera Cascabel S.A. de C.V. has mapped and sampled seventeen 1:50,000 quadrangles for the Consejo de Recursos Minerales. These areas include some of the most prospective mining districts in the country such as Nacozari, Batopilas, El Sauzal, Cucurpe, Baborigame, Maguarichic, Guadalupe y Calvo and Indé just to name a few. This was good old-fashioned boot-leather work and as a result our staff has the experience and expertise in these areas necessary to assist in efficient evaluation. We had to cover the entire quadrangles, so believe us - we know the local logistics and can help you get your jobs done in any of these areas. A summary of the work programs is provided below the table.

In 1998 Minera Cascabel began contract geological
mapping on 6 different 1:50,000 quadrangles for the Consejo de
Recursos Minerales, the Mexican Geological Survey. These
comprehensive geological mapping programs included regional
stream sediment sampling as well as rock chip sampling all known
mines and prospects in the respective sheets. The work was
completed and delivered in early 1999 and these data will
eventually be published through the Consejo and SECOFI as part of
their new detailed Geological and Mining Series (Cartas
Geologico-Mineras y Geoquimicas).
In the spring of 1999 an additional four 1:50.000 quadrangles
were contracted from the CRM. Mapping and sampling will start in
April, 1999 on this second group located north of Hermosillo in
the very center of the Cananea 1:250,000 quadrangle (H12-5). The
towns of Santa Ana and Magdalena de Kino are located in the
center of this mapping area and served as logistical bases
for the mapping programs. The work was
completed and delivered in December, 1999 and should be published in early
2001 at the latest.
In late fall 1999 an additional five 1:50.000 quadrangles in Chihuahua State were contracted from the CRM. Mapping and sampling started in January, 2000. This third group located in the Sierra Madres contains several historic mining districts such as Maguarichic, Batopilas and Baborigame as well as a recent area of new discovery around El Sauzal. The Chihuahua office of Cascabel will serve as a logistical base of operations and field groups will work out of Batopilas, Maguarichic and other localities near to the field areas. The work is to be completed and delivered in by the end of September, 2000.
In the fall of 2000 Cascabel successfully bid on two additional quadrangles in Chihuahua. Accelerated mapping and sampling started immediately based out of our Chihuahua field office. Delivery of the final work product was in February 2001. This fourth contract with the Consejo was also located in the Sierra Madre and included the mining districts of Guadalupe y Calvo,
