Exall's primary focus recently has been developing business in in the petrochemical field by acquiring Oltchim SA a petrochemical company in Romania and a 41% interest in Novachke Chemicke Zavody A.S. in Slovakia. They temporarily suspended operations at the Glimmer Mine in May 10, 2001.

Exall Resources Limited   [EXL:TSE]

Works in Mexico through Minera Exall S.A. de C.V. who had an office in Hermosillo back in 1992-1996. By 1999 most of Exall's work was apparently focused on the Glimmer Mine in Ontario, Canada and alluvial diamond projects in Guyana. (El Viejo Gambusino thinks they aren't active in Mexico like they were in the good old days)

Santo Tomas Cu-Au project in northern Sinaloa near Choix. Exall finally took a $C5.44 MM write-down on the Santo Tomas property on May 21, 1997 to a value of only $1 on their books. Completed a pre-feasibility study with Mintec, Inc. of Tucson in May, 1994 which reports a resource (prov + prob + pos) of 7.4 billion pounds of Cu in a porphyry deposit with grades around 0.33% Cu as sulfides. Northern Pit has a reported proven and mineable reserve of 560 M tonnes of 0.42% Cu. A high-grade core mineable reserve was established as 300M tonnes at 0.45% Cu (including credit for byproduct Ag and Au) A starter pit could be 45M tonnes at 0.56% Cu (included Au+Ag credits). Studies by Bateman Engineering, Kilborne Inc and Mintec Inc. in 1995 put estimated total cost of Cu/lb at $0.63/lb including smelting and refining costs. Estimated costs for a full bankable feasibility study by Bectel engineering were around $5M so Exall went looking for a partner to go through that next phase.  Britannia Gold took a look and in April, 1996 dropped option to earn 60% after completion of due dilegance.  After the write-down Exall continued to view the project favorably and planned to keep discussions open with potential JV partners by holding it as an asset in a 100% owned subsidiary. The underlying owner evidently had other ideas and Exall does not mention Santo Tomas as an ongoing project in their 1997 Annual Report. (Property may have been picked up by Morgain Minerals by May, 1998.)
