Excellon Resources is an emerging mining company exploring and developing its 14,692-hectare (36,000-acre) Platosa/Saltierra Properties in northeastern Durango State. Mining operations have started on the Core Area of the Properties and the ramp has been advanced approximately 600 metres from the portal entrance. First ore is expected at approximately 715 metres down ramp. As well, an aggressive exploration program is underway and has discovered a new manto.

Platosa Ag-Pb-Zn Mine,  Durango. This project has gone from exploration to a development phase with ongoing exploration. All the glorious details can be found on Excellon's website. The high grade ore averages around 75 ounces per tonne Ag, and 15% Pb and 15% Zn. Ballpark $800/tonne rock. Expectations are that the ramp will encounter the first ore in mid April, 2005. A mineable reserve of 67,000 tonnes was enough to green-light the project and now ongoing exploration is self-funded. Oh yeah - there will be a big party in less than two months!!

Cinco de Mayo Project, Durango

Descubridora-Rod Project, Durango. (Dropped it) Optioned a package of concessions which with the additional ground staked by Excellon comes out to a total of around 40,000 ha. The property is located 84 km NW of Torreon and 35 km W of the Platosa property. The targets include both polymetallic skarn and replacement orebodies in limestone as well as sediment-hosted or stockwork gold mineralization associated with regional-scale structures. A large amount of data is available on the area based on prior work by numerous companies. The first step is to compile all this prior data into a GIS platform digital database using the AZTECA system developed by RSI and IMDEX. Favorable areas for additional fieldwork and drilling will be selected after this data compilation.

Centauro Project, Chihuahua. (Dropped it) Concession of 2000 ha. located 13 km W of Escalon in southern Chihuahua near border with Durango optioned on 65% earn-in from (New) Blue Ribbon Resources. A 6-hole approximate 1,500m drill program tested 4 separate targets to depths between 250-300m within a 800m by 200m area of anomalous Au values. No economic values were encountered and the property was returned to (New) Blue Ribbon. Looks like it is just a big damn hill of silica. (El Viejo Gambusino heard that it is presently under re-evaluation by JABA Inc. Good Luck guys).
