Medallion hasn't been very active lately. Last major effort south of the border appears to be trying to help finance the Guigui exploration project in the Santa Eulalia District in 1999 along with Advanced Projects, but effort failed.

Medallion Resources Ltd.  MDL   (VSE)

Zoquite Ag Project, Zacatecas District, Zacatecas. A 70/30 JV between Medallion and Cyprus-Amax exploring the 7 km eastern extension of the Cantera Vein on the Medallion Property in the Zacatecas District. A 1500m drill program started on time on Jan 8, 1999. Shallow drilling has already intercepted the vein at depth with intercepts of 5.5 m of 84 grams Ag and half-gram Au. Confirmation of exploration model. Typical Zacatecas District ore grades were around 300 grams Ag. Five holes totaling 3,448 feet were completed by Jan 28, 1999. Medallion's goal in this initial drilling is to gather evidence indicating the high level vein exposures seen at the surface are exhibiting the physical and chemical changes required to form ore deposits similar to those mined historically at Zacatecas. Results to date support this model, as this work has shown a strong hydrothermal system hosting a Ag-bearing, sulfide-rich quartz vein up to 60m thick in the areas drilled. The Company is pleased to announce that step out drilling has commenced on the Zoquite silver project near Zacatecas, Mexico. This program consists of as much as 3,000 meters of drilling, including about 1,000 meters of core through the vein zone. The Company's initial drill program in January, 1999 consisted of five holes totaling 1,045 meters, which successfully demonstrated the presence of a very strong vein system with highly anomalous silver content over considerable widths. The current program is designed to provide a definitive test for the presence of high-grade "bonanza" ore shoots deeper in the vein system. Results will be reported once received and verified by the Company.

Zacatonal Concession, northern Sonora. A venture with Minera Cuicuilco S.A. de C.V. Joint (CyprusAmax) to explore the Milpillas Property in Cananea District of Sonora. The property covers 179 sq km 20 NW of Cananea. and was known as the Cuicuilco concession. NOTE: this exploration agreement specifically excludes development of the buried Milpilas Cu-oxide deposit. IP study of 3100 ha on this property initiated in 1Q97. Zacatonal Exploration was temporarily put on hold beginning 19Feb97 while an access problem with a local rancher was resolved on 2,700 ha (15% ) of the area. Arrangements to resume exploration made in late March, 1997 Prior mentioned IP survey defined a 300 by 1400m anomaly, interpreted as a breccia system. This was tested with a 4 hole, 610 m recon drill program completed in late October. Preliminary assays show hydrothermally altered and pyritized volcanic rocks with only sub-economic Cu values, Au and Ag results pendiing. Used Lloyd Geophysics Inc. of Vancouver. Bruce Spencer geologist. Company currently re-evaluating strategy on this project.
