Copalquin District, Durango. 50% UC Resources / 50% Planet Exploration

Copalquin is located in a significant gold and silver region within the Sierra Madre mineralogical belt in Mexico.

The Copalquin Mining District is reputed to have produced at least 250,000 ounces gold and 11 million ounces silver from 336,000 tonnes mined primarily before the Mexican revolution (pre-1910), with the majority coming from 5 mines: San Manuel, Los Reyes, El Refugio, La Soledad and El Cometa, all of which are located within the Copalquin property. The mines exploited narrow (0.5-1.5m thickness) quartz veins with high gold and silver grades in Tertiary and esites, which overlie intrusive Tertiary quartz monzonites

The Copalquin property has a series of parallel ridges of fault breccia over three kilometers. A 1998 shallow-angle diamond exploratory drill hole intersected a previously unknown high-grade vertical fault zone at 256 metres that crosscut the previously known horizontal low-grade quartz breccia. Resource estimates on the property have not been calculated since the discovery of the high-grade vertical fault zone, its existence may significantly alter Kennecott's and Fransisco Gold's original target potential of one million ounces of gold and 50 million ounces of silver based on their interpretation of a low-grade horizontal quartz breccia formation.

The best exploration-evaluation technique that UC's proven technical team feels will prove most successful and informative for deposits such as this is a methodical pattern diamond drilling. Two potential bodies, which can be readily defined, have been earmarked for such work by UC. On El Cometa, from which previous exceptional grades were recorded and El Refugio. The UC exploration and drill programs are designed to evaluate the known high-grade mineralization and to explore the inferred lower grade mineralization targets, both highlighted by previous work.An 11-man camp has been constructed and an approximate 3,000-metre initial drilling program is set to start on the Copalquin prospec. The
7,005-hectacre (17,401-acre) silver/gold property is located within the Sierra Madre mineralogical belt in the State of Durango, Mexico, This region is home to 23 silver gold mines which were active mostly prior to the 1910 Mexican revolution.
