Located in City of Durango, Durango State. Cerro de Mercado is part of Grupo Acero del Norte (GAN) and it supplies iron concentrates for the sinter process at Altos Hornos de Mexico S.A. de C.V. The open pit mine moves 3,000,000 tpy of which 1,800,000 are ore which feeds mill which in turn produces around 1,000,000 tpy of Fe concentrate at 64% Fe. Exploration relies heavily on geophysics, diamond drilling and 50 years of local geological experience in this magnetite skarn orebody.
