Recently formed private Mexican company who since 2001 has designs on becoming the only Co-Ni producer in Mexico.

Golden Bear Resources S.A. de C.V.

Based in Hermosillo and Mark R. Padberg is the director.

La Esperanza Project, Sonora. Located in Municipio of Bacanora, this 120 hectare skarn property is under a 3-year option from Manuel Quijada Figueroa and it has some good Cu-Co-Ni values. Semi-detailed mapping and sampling took place on the La Esperanza, La Perla and El Porvenir claims in October and November, 2001. Based on 78 channel and chip samples the following ranges were observed in the exoskarn material:

Au:    0.19 to 7.08 ppm
Ag:     3.2 to 61.6 ppm
Cu:     0.12 to 14.17%
Zn:    0.07 to 14.66%
Co:    160 to 2365 ppm
Ni:    105 to 2608 ppm
La:     values in excess of 2000 ppm

Samples from the endoskarn material collected within the monzonite sill ran:

Cu:    0.1635%
Zn:    6.49%
Co:   973 ppm
Ni:    571 ppm

The style of mineralization is a mesothermal system some 700 m by 300 m in dimensions related to endo and exoskarn with possible economic values of Au, Ag, Cu, Zn, Co, Ni and La. These skarns are related to aureoles around monzonitic sills emplaced in Paleozoic carbonates. Mineralization consists of chalcopyrite, sphalerite, pyrite, carrollite, siegentite, covelite, chalcocite, traces of pyhrrotite, malachite, chalcanthite, azurite, hydrozincite and chrysocholla. The potential is estimated to be in the range of 4 to 6 million tonnes.

Mina La Goconda, Sonora. A small high grade gold mine down near Alamos optioned from Minera Cascabel S.A. de C.V. in 1Q02. Fairly narrow 1.5 to 2.0m wide steeply dipping quartz vein with past historical production grades around 0.5 Au ounces/tonne with around an ounce of Ag. Surface samples return values up to over an ounce/tonne Au. Some small high-grade dumps still around. Good opportunity for production on a small scale, or source of silica flux with a good precious-metal credit for the smelter in Nacozari.
