Noranda Inc. has been in Mexico since long before the mining laws had changed in the early 1990's. They had successfully operated Minera Las Cuevas focused on fluorite and industrial minerals.

Bob Page ran the Noranda Exploracion, Mexico S.A. de C.V. office in Hermosillo and was responsible for all things in Mexico. He also was the regional correspondent for Mexico in the Exploration Reviews published in the SEG Newsletter until he was transferred to Toronto in the summer of 2002. Bye Bye Bob!!

Caballo Blanco Au-Ag skarn property near Vera Cruz. Optioned a 75% interest from Almaden Resources Corp who keep a lot of data on this project on their website. The deal apparently was for US$2M in cash plus US$1M in Almaden treasury shares plus taking the property through feasibility. After they wrapped-up a 2100 m drill program, Noranda dropped property back to Almaden. Noranda had focused on the property's copper-gold porphyry potential in the Central Grid area.

El Gordo/Kabah Property, Guanajuato. Near Leon on the SE end of the Leon-Guanajuato Mineral Reserve, opposite of 2 properties listed below. IMMSA and Penoles won the lotteries for the two fractions of the reserve that were auctioned off in mid-1998. Property acquired by Golden Temple Resources through staking. Signed option with Noranda on property that has 50 meter wide massive to semi-massive sulfides outcropping in creekbed. Thought to occur in same stratigraphy as Zacatecas volcanogenic massive sulfide discoveries. Golden Temple added the adjacent 1,490 Ha Kabah claim into their option agreement. Dropped interest in project back to Golden Temple.

Apolo (9,346 ha.) and Venus (1,100 ha.) concessions, in Jalisco State. Located at the NW end of the preserve. Golden Temple Resources signed agreement on these 2 adjacent base-metal properties and optioned same to Noranda. Sampling on Apolo/Venus shows 2.3m true thickness of 1.64% Cu, 0.6 gpt Au and 13.2 gpt Ag (weighted average of 5 channel samples - no dimensions provided as to size of prospective zone). Golden Temple seeking private placement of 1.1M special warrents at $0.65. Formal title to Apolo claim (8,500 ha) was received in early October. A 1:2000 scale mapping program has been finished in the Los Gavilanes area. Mapping and stream sediment sampling is 60% complete over property. Noranda recently picked up 4 claims totaling 402 Ha to through into the area of mutual interest with Golden Temple.

Dos de Marzo, Chalchihuites District, Zacatecas. Optioned property from Minera Basay S.A. de C.V. (Cusac Gold Mines) Noranda drilled it in 2Q98.

San Martin/Roncesvalles area near Parrall, Chihuahua. In early 1995, Noranda drilled some 9 holes in 5 target areas looking for sulfide mineralization in the in an asset-pooling option from Corner Bay Minerals. Subsequently dropped El Pacto and La Crisis claims back to vendor.

San Isidro Cu property,  Michoacan. Also known as "San Juan Property". In late 1994-early 1995 Noranda Exploration optioned the 3,500 ha. property from Aquiline Resources. Consisting of the four San Juan claim blocks, Noranda's evaluation included geochemistry, geophysics and 4 BQ core holes. for a total of 1000 m in two target areas known as Cerro Verde and Cerro Pelon.. Noranda dropped property back to Aquiline in February, 1996.

La Colmilluda Copper Project, Michoacan. Second property optioned from Aquiline consisted of the La Vista and La Joya claims, which combined cover 23 km. At least two stages of drilling were conducted in "volcanic-hosted stratabound deposit".

Noranda, along with BHP and Outokumpo optioned stratabound "redbed-type" Cu property in the Sabinas Basin of Coahuila from Francisco Gold in early-1995.

Tameapa Cu-Mo Project, Sinaloa. has been in Noranda's Mexican portfolio since the days of Las Cuevas back in the 1970's. Optioned this puppy to Magma (BHP) back in early 1990's for some adventures up in the Sierra Madres. BHP drilled some holes and dropped it back. (SEG Newsletter). A 12,600 ha group of 10 concessions covering a Cu-Mo porphyry prospect located 125 km N of Culiacan near the town of Badriaguato, Sinaloa. Two targets, Pico Prieto and Venado, reportedly exist within 2 km of each other: one is a Cu-porphyry and the other a Mo-Cu porphyry. This same project now carried in Noranda's portfolio.
