War Eagle Mining Company's principal business is Rare Metal mineral exploration and development in North America. Worldwide demand for certain Rare Metal minerals has resulted in shortened supplies as their uses in the manufacturing of high-tech devices and components have increased. War Eagle's exploration activities will include the search for Germanium and Tantalum deposits in Mexico and Canada. These minerals are widely used in the production and manufacturing of semiconductors and solid-state capacitors.

Promontorio Property, Sonora. Located in the western foothills of Sierra Madres of eastern Sonora around 75 km NE of Ciudad Obregon. it is 50 miles due N of company's La Fortuna project and 75 miles N of Alamos. This volcanic collapse breccia is presently being drilled with a 10 hole 1,221 m DDH program. This follows EM work earlier last year conducted in conjunction with a 95 sample grid-sampling rock-chip program covering 800m by 400m. Samples were collected at 50 and 25 m spacing on lines 200 m apart. 53 samples averaged 14% Pb and 20.1 opt Ag along with 0.02 opt Au. Early 1998 news reports that 8 km of line brushing has been completed.

La Fortuna and Rosario Projects, Sonora. Claims totaling 560,000 Ha acquired 100% from various previous owners. Located 40 km N of Alamos, and 55 km NE of Navajoa, Sonora. Testing concept of low-grade heap-leach Ag with 16 MMT of inferred reserves in 1 of 3 zones. Additional drilling scheduled for Oct. '96 prior to sinking decline to bulk sample for overall grade determination. To date 20 lower grade and 7 high grade "lodes" have been discovered. Also, 850 line km airborne geophysics were flown on 3 separate blocks (Northwest, South and Mesquite Zones) within 700,000 acre land holdings in SE Sonora. Received official title to own 100% of 11 acre Monte Cristo claim located in center of the La Fortuna South Zone where previous drilling returned high-grade Ag. War Eagle reported probable reserves as 570,000 oz Au equivalent. War Eagle also reported the South Zone as having reserves of 1.7 MM tonnes grading 0.198 eAu (330,000 eAu ounces); however, in accordance with the VSE Junior Mining Standard Policy it retracts these prior resource calculations due to possible discrepancies between RC drilling and twinned DDH. Presently completing IP survey to identify targets in NW Zone and plans to resume DDH in 1Q98.
